Mediavision: Record-high household spending on audio media in Q1
Swedish households are spending more than ever on audio media. During the first quarter of 2025, the average monthly spend on music, audiobooks, and podcasts reached a new record level — 170 SEK per household. This represents a 20 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Growth is seen across music, audiobooks, and podcasts. This is shown in Mediavision’s latest analysis of the Swedish audio market. Music continues to dominate audio spending, with an average of around 100 SEK per household per month, but both audiobooks and podcasts also contribute to the increase.

Schibsted presents loss of NOK 40 million for 2024
Yesterday, Norwegian media group Schibsted presented its financial figures for 2024. Schibsted states that the year was marked by declining print revenues, a tough advertising market, and costs associated with establishing a new company.
Schibsted Media was established as an independent media group in June 2024, following the divestment of the media business from Schibsted ASA – now known as Vend – and its acquisition by the Tinius Trust. Recently, the company reverted to its classic and concise name – Schibsted – after operating for nearly a year as Schibsted Media.
Total operating revenues for 2024 came to NOK 7.5 billion, roughly on par with the year before. The operating result was a loss of NOK 40 million, compared to a profit of NOK 19 million the previous year, reflecting continued pressure on profitability across the group. The annual result, however, was positive at NOK 127 million, driven by income from outside of ordinary operations. The operating performance has been affected by a struggling advertising market, declining print revenues, softer subscription growth for certain brands, and costs related to the establishment of the new company.
“We knew 2024 would be a demanding year of transition, both operationally and financially. But we used it to lay a new foundation – with clearer direction, tighter control, and stronger digital positions to build on,” says CEO Siv Juvik Tveitnes.
The annual financial report for 2024 covers the full year, including both the period before and after the split from today’s Vend. The figures are not directly comparable to previous years, as the media operations were part of a larger listed company until June last year.

PRESS
Polaris becomes sole owner of Stampen
Norwegian media group Polaris is becoming the sole owner of the Swedish media group Stampen. This morning, it was announced that Polaris will buy the remaining shares in Stampen Media from NWT. Today, Stampen Media has 16 subscription newspapers and a distribution business. In 2024, the company had a turnover of SEK 1.2 billion, with an EBITDA of SEK 106 million and a profit margin of 9 percent.
Polaris and NWT have entered into an agreement whereby Polaris Media will purchase NWT’s 20 percent stake in Stampen Media. The purchase price is SEK 195 million. Following the acquisition of VK Media’s 10 percent stake in March 2025, Polaris will become the sole owner of Stampen Media through the holding company PNV Media.
“Since we entered as joint owners in 2019, Stampen Media has seen very positive development. Today, the company is a leading news media group with a strong position on the Swedish west coast, which includes Göteborgs-Posten and 15 local and regional newspapers,” says Per Axel Koch, CEO of Polaris Media.
“We have concluded that now is a good time for us to sell our share in Stampen Media. We are proud and happy that, together with Polaris Media and VK Media, we have contributed to Stampen Media being stronger today than in 2019. I am convinced that the continued development as a wholly owned company of Polaris Media will be successful,” says Victoria Svanberg of NWT.
